First Lutheran Church, downtown Brainerd, is the site of a photographic exhibition of John Erickson’s 12 portraits of people from the Brainerd Lakes area who are “messengers.” The messengers in this exhibition are remarkable people who have overcome, or in some cases continue to endure and overcome, substantial challenges in life, doing so with grace and courage. The intent of the photographer is portray the ultimate triumph of the human spirit, notwithstanding loss and suffering, separation and anxiety.
The exhibition will continue into February in the church’s spacious fellowship hall addition.
