Millie's Blog

The Crossing Arts Alliance is certainly defined by the strength and contributions of its members and often the one person who seems to have that extra bit of effort to make things happen is our Artistic Director, Millie Engisch-Morris. Her experience and skills in art and design help shape the look and feel of The Crossing as evidenced in our newsletter, brochures and the promotional material we create for the art and the cultural events we sponsor. Who better to give you, our supporters, a look into the inner sanctum of The Crossing Arts Alliance than our friend and colleague Millie. Join us in exploring art on a personal basis through Millie's Blog. Enjoy!

A Toast to Your Health

"We believe the arts, thoughtfully integrated into any environment, can contribute to the nurturing and restoration of health and wellness of the body, mind and spirit." -
Dorsey-Hovde Art Design

Your next visit to the doctor may be much more pleasant than expected. Your sense of well-being may even improve while you wait. Local art has been installed at the new Essentia Health Clinic in Baxter and it looks fantastic! Walking through the beautiful new building and recognizing so many pieces of art was an up-lifting experience for me.

A huge thank you to Dyan Westman, a fine art consultant and project manager at Dorsey-Hovde ArtDesign (DHAD), www.dhartdesign.com for working with The Crossing Arts Alliance and local lakes area artists to help with the selection, installation, and purchase of art for the new clinic. "The firm¹s philosophy has evolved from Hovde¹s years of deep interest and research into mind/body medicine within the context of integrating the arts into the design process for healing and wellness." Thank you also to Dr. Dave Boran at Essentia Health for assisting with this process, http://www.essentiahealth.org

There is no doubt that local artists are already feeling better about being sustained by DHAD and Essentia. I for one, will raise a glass and toast to your health!
