My name is Greg Rosenberg and I live in the beautiful northern Minnesota lakes area of Brainerd. I have a stained and copper sculpture business located in the Franklin Arts Center on the corner of Kingwood and North 10th Street in Brainerd and have done this work for 30 plus years. My wife and I settled in Brainerd in 1973, raised our four boys, and now are grandparents as well.
I have no formal art training but took every art class offered in High School at Sauk Centre, Minnesota where I am from. I am self taught in stained glass, doing windows and small sun catchers primarily in songbird and wildflower designs native to our area, but quickly branched out into doing stained glass lamps.
After falling completely in love with the beauty of art glass lamps I quite accidentally discovered the use of thinly sliced agates in the making of these lamps. My need for a good quality lamp base that truly complemented my lamp shades lead to the technique of copper sculpture and making my own designed lamp bases. I have slowly over the years perfected this technique of solder sculpting copper sheets, wire and tubing into tree trunks, vines, leaves and flowers creating one of a kind lamp bases. I often spend as much time on the base as I do making the shade but the end result is family heirloom quality art that I am proud to sign. This same copper sculpture technique is now used on furniture, cove molding, doors and wall art with an unlimited application for future use on other projects.
I love doing my art work and am deeply honored to make a living at it.
