Located in our classroom at 711 Laurel St, downtown Brainerd.

10Am TO 12PM

Meet our featured Member Artist, Laura Kotsmith. From finger painting as a child to running a pottery business as an adult, art has always been a central part of Laura's life. She creates functional and decorative pottery that reflects a colorful earthy style infused with organic patterns, textures, and sketchy surface drawings of living things such as plants, fish, and portraits. When creating her work, the main goal is to inspire people to look carefully at the world around them and discover the beauty in these small details, slow down, reconnect with our natural surroundings, and celebrate the human spirit. If that is happening, they are serving their purpose. View some of her pieces on display, talk with her, and learn more about the process for creating her artwork.

10Am TO 2PM

In our gallery, our current exhibition, 'Fritz Loven Park Revisited', an exhibition of artwork by Mary Hendricks, Judith Kuusisto, Mona Warren, Kathy Blake, and Cindy Furda will be on display. After a previous exhibition at the Crossing Arts Alliance which included work that was a deep study of Fritz Loven Park, this group of artists have returned to create a new body of work based on the landscape that has changed the park from two storms that occurred in the summer of 2016. Hiking the trails and capturing images of the changing seasons and surroundings to base their work on, this new collection of pieces brings a new and interesting light to Fritz Loven Park, the artists themselves, and the project as a whole.
